Crafting Sustainability: The Story Behind Toast Brewing's Tap Handles
When we set out to create new tap handles, we didn’t just want something functional - we wanted them to be as beautiful as they are sustainable. Something that would really bring to life the story of our beer. We teamed up with the incredible Elvis & Kresse - upcycling maestros known for turning waste into wonders. We challenged them to craft tap handles that embodied our planet-positive mission, and what they came up with blew us away.
From Waste to Wonder
The journey of our tap handles starts with waste scaffolding wood. Once discarded and forgotten, these sturdy planks are given a second chance to shine.
Here’s how they’re transformed:
1. Cutting and Sanding: Each piece is carefully cut and sanded, setting the stage for their new life.
2. Laser Etching: Toast’s logo and brand messaging is etched with precision, ensuring each handle is as bold as the message it carries.

3. Hand Painting: Vibrant, hand-applied details bring character and life to each handle.
4. Fire-Hose Accents: The final flourish? Charming bees and ladybirds made from decommissioned fire hoses—a nod to the importance of biodiversity and a clever use of this amazing material.

From scaffolding wood and decommissioned fire hoses, these tap handles are a true celebration of creativity, craftsmanship, and the beauty of doing things differently.
Meet Elvis & Kresse

Since 2005, Elvis & Kresse have been saving materials destined for landfill, starting with London’s decommissioned fire hoses. These hoses, once heroes in emergencies, are transformed into bags, accessories, and home goods. Their impact extends far beyond the products themselves—50% of profits from their fire-hose range go to The Fire Fighters Charity, supporting the people who save lives daily.Their passion for upcycling doesn’t stop at fire hoses. Elvis & Kresse now work with 15 different reclaimed materials, proving time and again that waste can be the start of something wonderful.
A Shared Vision
This collaboration is about more than just tap handles—it’s about shared values. As B Corps Toast and Elvis & Kresse both believe in fighting waste, supporting communities, and using business as a force for good. Together, we’re proving that sustainability can be as beautiful as it is impactful. So next time you enjoy a pint of Toast beer, take a closer look at the tap. It’s not just a handle—it’s a story. A story of resourcefulness, creativity, and a commitment to a better world.
Raise a Toast to planet Earth. Cheers!
